SkyWatch Friday; Sunrise on Lady Elliot;

Lady Eliot Island

Turtle on her way to the sea

She was a bit late and had to go over the stones, as the tide was already out, poor thing;

Off she goes, only her hump is still visible

The sun has risen

  7. Gorgeous photos! The island looks like a giant turtle itself, floating in the ocean.

  10. You were so lucky to be at that exact spot when the turtle was heading from shore to go to the sea. I love this image!

  11. Such calming tropical scenes. It is horrible to think a cyclone is heading that way.

  12. That's a beautiful shot of the island! Love the blue blue sea. The island looks small though. But I am sure the place is wonderful. And glad to see that the turtle made it back to the sea.

  13. Ann, I think so, boats can't come in because it is surrounded by a coral reef; and also because of the turtles nesting there. The island is also full
    of birds. People and supplies are flown in by a small plane.

  14. What a great island spot. I'll have to look the place up and google earth for a closer look. I wonder haw many thousands and thousands of years turtles have made this journey. These shots make for a nice photo essay.

    Barbara
