The Summer Garden;

Darling; nature is poetry in plants and flowers...talking to my grand daughter...

Coleus, Solenostemon; with its alluring colours and patterns for many a favourite plant to grow in the warm climate garden.

Exquisite Lichen adorning the tree trunk; Foliose lichen Parmeliopsis ambigua

Heliconia rostrata;  the pride of any garden;

All the names I know from nurse:
Gardener's garters, Shepherd's purse,
Bachelor's buttons, Lady's smock,
And the Lady Hollyhock.

RLStevenson

The sun traces a mosaic pattern in the pool;

Easy to grow, gorgeous, friendly Gazanias, love the sun;

Salvias are a must have in the sub tropical garden.

Sunset; clouds are part of the summer sky;

Allamanda loves to use nearby trees and bushes to climb up to show of its dazzling yellow bells.

Varigated Bromeliads, easy to grow and add structure and interest to the garden.

Fairy places, fairy things,
Fairy woods where the wild bee wings,
Tiny trees for tiny dames--
These must all be fairy names!
RL Stevenson

Mussaenda flava; vigorous and decidious;

Summer is also the time for juicy Mangoes

Tiny woods below whose boughs
Shady fairies weave a house;
Tiny tree-tops, rose or thyme,
Where the braver fairies climb!
RL Stevenson

Different leaf sizes, patterns colours; glorious;

The native Callistemon, or just simply called bottlebrushes are always delightful and a good source of nectar for the native birds.

Time for a little rest and perhaps a cool drink, it is hot!

The last  but not the least is the graceful cassia fistula, in full flower now.

Fair are grown-up people's trees,
But the fairest woods are these;
Where, if I were not so tall,
I should live for good and all.

RL Stevenson

  1. Great summer garden and an apt poem too. Love the ginger plant at least I think it is a ginger plant.

  2. Your summer garden is looking so lovely ... lush and colourful. I just love your pink Salvia and that great Callistemon. Most of those Salvia cuttings you sent have now struck and are doing well. I have lost a few during the heavy downpours we've had recently and as a result of some hungry wallabies, but I've now got the fantastic hot pink, the white and the soft pink growing beautifully.

  3. Bernie; glad to see you around; oh wonderful, that you got them growing and flowering. Yesterday was some blue sky, but now heavy rain again. Glad I am up on the hill! T♥

  4. Your garden is looking wonderful. I think the plants have appreciated the rain, but I'm glad we got a break from it.

  5. Missy, good morning, I like the rain; just at the right time and the right amount, I do not ask for much! I appreciate your visit. T♥

  8. Your garden looks so lush and cool, Titania. The perfect antidote to these sticky summer days. Love the blue in the first photo. Is that another salvia?

Herrlich.

Bergschnee wäre schon was schoenes!
    Alles Liebe und Gute always T♥

  12. Titania, happy New Year! It is interesting to see that Salvia in your garden. Is it an annual or a perennial? Those short, bright coloured ones/annuals sold here wither really fast. And I love you pink Callistemon. The blooms are really pretty!

  13. Hi Stephanie, good to hear from you. The Salvias I grow are are all tropical plants. Many colours, soft and strong. Most of them grow fairly high, but all are outstanding plants, easy to grow and prune when the flowering is over. I have somewhere a post about the salvias. I will search for this post and let you know. T♥

  19. Your bench is still a delightful colour, and I still haven't painted mine, it is on the front verandah. Have been wanting a bench for near the pond at my other house to show how the pond could be used when we sell. Painting there at the moment. Hmm. Thank you.

  23. Dear Titania, as you know we are snow under and the weather is freezing. It is so good run away a little bit into your summer garden full of sun, beautiful flowers and fruits and some plants that I've never seen before. I really enjoyed.

  24. Your pictures are very uplifting to those of us in the middle of winter! I have also realised that I had no idea what a mango tree looked like - or that the fruit hung down on such long stems.
    I agree with you about gardening and getting older - everything takes much longer to do and frankly I could do without the aches and pains :-)

  26. Dear Meda, thank you for visiting. It seems Europe is experiencing a very cold winter. I guess that is what winter is all about! Hugs T♥

  27. wow...those Aussie Mangoes would cost US$3 each here ! I truly envy your large garden.

  28. Hort Log; We grow many varieties, early and late ones. Do you remember the big old trees with the stringy ones. They were a pain to eat because all the strings would get stuck in the teeth! T♥
